More Molluscum Information 1:
Molluscum is is easily spread through direct skin contact. It is fairly common among children, who haven't developed immunity to the virus. It is so common, in fact, that as many as one out of every 200 children younger than 10 years of age will experience molluscum at some point. It has been estimated that more than 1% of all skin conditions seen in the US are for molluscum.
While a molluscum outbreak will eventually run its course, it can last for up to five years or longer. This length of time is unthinkable for children to endure when you consider the consequences of the outbreak. Often, older children will be embarrassed by the appearance of the molluscum contagiosum lesions. This may lead to withdrawal from play with other children, isolation, and feelings of self consciousness.
At Naturopathix, Inc., we have developed a treatment for molluscum that is effective in treating children who are at least nine months old. ZymaDerm is non-toxic and clinically proven to be safe for use on all body surface areas. Because it does not burn on application like so many of the conventional medications, children tolerate the application quite well.
